I'm a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Oregon. I really enjoy helping families navigate the decisions that they need to make in order to live out the lives they dream. As both a financial planner and a CPA I believe I can offer clients the benefit of both expert financial advice while at the same time considering the tax implications of the decisions that are being made. My experience as a CPA has shown me that most other financial advisors give advice and footnote it with "Be sure to check with your tax advisor for the tax implications of this advice." Which most clients don't actually do.
A few years ago I added the Certified Exit Planning Advisor™ (CEPA®) credential which focuses on assisting business owners through the process of transitioning out of their business. I've successfully exited two businesses of my own so I have personal experience with the process. After having been repeatedly asked for help with business exit planning by clients it became obvious that this was an area which is given limited attention by most financial planners.
Additionally, I'm also a real estate investor myself which gives me a depth of knowledge to advise clients who have real estate as part of their portfolio.
I believe it is important to approach financial planning on a granular scale. I'm determined to first spend time understanding each client's needs, wants, and financial goals so that I can create a well- thought out, well-defined plan.
Seeing the end result of a transformative process is what I find most rewarding. The relief on a client's face after lifting financial stress from their shoulders is what its all about. That is why my planning process begins by discussing and defining what is most important to the client. From there, we will create a trusted, tailored solution that moves them toward the financial future they dream of.
I studied accounting at Oregon State University where I received his Business Degree. I also hold the following designations, registrations and licenses:
I'm a member of the following professional organizations:
My passions outside of financial planning include travelling, backpacking, beach-time, surfing with my kids, and just spending time alongside my family and friends. I love to volunteer for organizations that help support children in the community. As such, I've been the Treasurer for both the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and Parenting With Intent, which helps provide support and services to at-risk youth in foster care.
